Tongan Speaker pleads not guilty

The Speaker of Tonga’s Parliament, Lord Lasike has pleaded not guilty to one count of illegal possession of ammunition.

NUKU’ALOFA, Tonga (RADIO & TV Tonga) ---- The Speaker of Tonga’s Parliament, Lord Lasike has pleaded not guilty to one count of illegal possession of ammunition. Lord Lasike re-appeared in court this morning, agreeing to be judged by a jury. He's due to appear in the Supreme Court again on 10 February. His bail conditions have been extended. He's not allowed to travel overseas and must notify the court if he's going to travel to the outer islands. Lord Lasike will still maintain his position as Speaker of the House which is due to re-open on Tuesday next week.
