SUVA, Fiji (FBCL) ---- Fiji’s $20 dollar notes that were part of the million dollars stolen off-shore are circulating in the country the Fiji Police Force has warned.
The Force is particularly warning people who come to sell their produce in our markets this weekend.
Police Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said markets are always busy during weekends so people selling their produce must be aware of the notes received
To all members of the community who come and sell in the market throughout the country please be careful with the 20 dollar bill that are presented for purchase. Remember the stolen notes serial number fly between EB 450 000 to EB 50 000 - if you come across such notes please report it to the nearest police post or police station.
Meanwhile, Inspector Sokomuri has confirmed that the Police now know the country where the Reserve Bank of Fiji’s $1 million dollars in freshly printed $20 dollar notes was stolen.
The Fiji Police is aware of the country where the robbery allegedly took place but in respect of our counterparts who are doing their investigations overseas we will not go to details until our investigations are completed.
Inspector Sokomuri adds they are also aware of how the money got into the country and is being distributed but will also not reveal any further details of that for now.
