Bainimarama to decide on drought declaration in Fiji

Fiji’s Disaster Management Committee (DISMAC) and the Department of Hydrology are scheduled to meet today to prepare a report on Fiji’s current dry weather.

SUVA, Fiji (FIJI LIVE) ---- Fiji’s Disaster Management Committee (DISMAC) and the Department of Hydrology are scheduled to meet today to prepare a report on Fiji’s current dry weather. Fiji has been experiencing a dry spell lately with parts of the western and eastern divisions feeling the full impact of the dry conditions. According to DISMAC director Pajiliai Dobui the final decision on whether Fiji’s current dry weather will be declared a national drought will come from Fiji’s leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama. Mr Dobui told FijiLive they will provide the government the necessary information gathered by their research teams and those provided by the Department of Hydrology.
