SYDNEY, Australia (RADIO AUSTRALIA) ---- The Australian city of Sydney is hosting a conference on juvenile crime with seven South Pacific nations.
The annual meeting includes New Zealand, PNG, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa and Kiribati.
New South Wales Attorney-General John Hatzistergos said the state will be funding the event.
Mr Hatzistergos said it's an investment in helping troubled young people reach their full potential.
“This conference is being held to be able to share experience of senior practitioners from across the country, to be able to draw from the skills and experience of magistrates and judges, who've had experience in dealing with these complex issues in different communities, and to be able to learn from each other the innovative steps that can lead to a reduction in offending,”he said.
