HONIARA, Solomon Islands --- The European Union (EU) has agreed to send expert mission for the national general election around June.

This was one of the assistance EU agreed to give Solomon Islands following the third enhanced political dialogue in Brussels, Belgium last week.

The other assistance will go towards Government's budgetary supports and climate change.

Secretary to Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele confirmed yesterday to the media that the expert mission will come to look at the election process.

Preparation for the election is on with the electoral commission taking the lead in this process.

The voter registration process is expected to complete in May before the Commission announces the date for the election.

The Commission has engaged some technical advisers to help in the process as well.

EU is also keen to work with Solomon Islands and other small islands developing states to address climate change challenges and initiatives.

The Ministry of Environment and Conservation will take the lead in liaising with the EU on climate change initiatives.
