SUVA, Fiji ---- The New Zealand High Commission in Fiji has welcomed its new acting head of mission, Phillip Taula.
A career diplomat, Mr Taula had previous postings to New York and Jakarta.
“I'm delighted to be in Fiji and I look forward to working here," Mr Taula said. His wife and children are expected to join him shortly.
Mr Taula will be responsible for a High Commission of 55 staff, 48 of whom are local employees.
In addition to consular work for New Zealand tourists and citizens in Fiji, the commission runs an extensive development assistance program for Fiji, Tuvalu, and a number of regional organisations.
The Immigration Office at the commission continues to process a large number of visa applications on a daily basis, with a new system for submission (by mail or courier only) allowing faster processing times.
