Fijian administration stops pension for 20 former government members

The Fijian administration has stopped paying pensions to more then twenty former ministers of past governments.

SUVA, Fiji ----- The Fijian administration has stopped paying pensions to more then twenty former ministers of past governments. The permanent secretary to the Prime Minister’s office Pio Tikoduadua said they’ve taken out their pensions. He said it wasn’t done as a cost cutting measure – but something that just had to be done. “This is not a cost-saving issue. We are not doing this because we want to save money.” Some former Minister’s including former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka have been stripped of their pension following the passing of a decree by the administration.
